Shipping Policies

Estimated Order Shipping Time

 

During the checkout process, if you place your order before 3pm EST, we will do our best to ship it out the same day.

Although  we will try our best to answer your questions, communication regarding  shipping cannot be fully addressed when our shipping department is  closed. If you feel that your order has been delayed, please check out  the following.

Shipping Delays

We  ship many items within just a few hours (and 99% of our products ship  within 24 hours) after placing your order; however, please allow a  maximum of two business days (48 hours) to process the order prior to  shipment. 

Causes of shipping delays

Order delivery times may be delayed due to circumstances such as

Credit Card pending authorization
PayPal pending authorization
Insufficient or inaccurate information provided when placing the order or incomplete payment.
Back-ordered equipment

You will be contacted via phone or email should such a condition be realized during the course of processing your order.

Back-ordered products

If  an item you ordered is on back order, you will be contacted via  telephone and/or email to advise you of the expected delay and provide  you with your options. You can choose to wait for the item, select an  available product, or cancel your order. We will ship the item to you as  soon as it is in stock. Orders for products that are not available  within 30 days will be cancelled. In the event that your order is  cancelled you will be contacted via email.

Order Tracking

Order tracking is only activated once the products have been released from our inventory
Orders may be tracked from a link sent via email shipping confirmation.
It may take up to six hours for a tracking number to become active following the shipping confirmation email.

How we ship Televisions

We've been shipping TVs from coast to coast, since 2002.

Every  television over 50 inches is shipped in its original box, pelleted and  wrapped to the pallet. This guarantees the package is not shipped on its  side or stacked. We use fully insured light-truck-load shipping  companies so that your TV is handled with care and not 'processed and  sorted'.
In the unlikely event that your television arrives with  concealed damage, we require that you inform us right away. We will work  quickly to replace the damage product. 
We 100% guarantee your purchase to get there on the agreed date, and it will definitely arrive in perfect condition.

Order Desk Hours:

The Order Desk operates from Monday to Friday, 11am - 4:30pm. 

Orders  leave our warehouse typically in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.  Weekends and provincial civic holidays are not included in shipping time  estimations. If it appears that your order has not left our shipping  facility, you may submit a cancellation request for your order. Order  cancellations are approved only if the product(s) are still in our  possession.  

To leave our shipping facility on the same day, the  Order Desk must have order confirmation by 3pm EST. Shipping  notifications and tracking information can take up to six hours to  become active on our system.
Shipping Limitations

Three territories of Canada or in isolated rural areas.

Most smaller items (cameras, camcorders, video players, etc.) can be shipped anywhere in Canada.

Large  items. For some shipping addresses located in the three territories of  Canada or in isolated rural areas, the actual shipping charge on larger  items such as televisions, stands or large speakers may exceed those  that are calculated at the time you place your order. Once we receive  your order, we will get an exact quote for shipping and notify you of  any extra charges prior to shipping your order. If after this  notification you do not accept the actual shipping charges, your order  will be cancelled and refunded immediately upon your request.

Restrictions for Canada-Wide Free Shipping items.

The shipping cost cannot exceed 10% of the price of the product being purchased. If we find out it does, we will contact you.
Can only be applied to ground shipments. Express shipping is not eligible for free shipping.
Cannot be applied to destinations accessible only by water or air.
Please  Note: Some sale-priced and clearance items may not be eligible for free  shipping.  In addition, certain heavy items such as TV stands and  mounts may not be eligible for free shipping

Special Shipping, Overnight or Express Shipping

We  can arrange special shipping arrangements for you.  Within Canada, we  can express ship any item to you either in two days or even overnight to  most city-center locations. 

If you want to arrange a special  shipment, its best to contact us to make arrangements. We use Purolator  for all of our special shipments. You can visit purolator.ca to see  their latest rates.  If you have a shipping company that you work with  or have an account with, we'll be happy to receive them for a pickup. 

Special Shipping Costs

All costs on special, express or overnight shipping must be covered by the receiver. 

Within the Greater Toronto Area

Most  items are delivered within 24 hours following the purchase time for  customers who live in the GTA. This is a standard, but not a guarantee.  

Shipping Cancellations

If an order has not shipped and you would like to cancel your order, you can do this by contacting us.

Order Cancellations by Smart Intel

We  may cancel orders automatically if our payment gateway informs us of a  known fraud offender. These cancellations will be carried out without  customer notification. Smart Intel will refund the original credit card  holder or PayPal transaction in full.

If you believe your order was canceled accidentally, please contact us.

Damaged in Shipping

Take Action Immediately!!!

Smart Intel always uses insured shipping services to protect our customers against shipping damage.

We  ask that you take photos of damages as soon as you receive your  products. Advise Smart Intel immediately (48 hours) upon delivery of  same; this can be done by telephone at 416-729-6869. Shipping damage  must be claimed immediately, and for this reason, we urge customers to  inspect their goods as soon as they receive them. 

IMPORTANT:  Failure to report shipping damage right away will result in voided  warranty and return policies since 'accidental product damage' is not  covered by any of our policies or manufacture warranties.

Standard Return Policy

Satisfaction First

Your  satisfaction is what counts at Smart Intel. If, for any reason, you are  not satisfied with your purchase, we will gladly accept your return or  exchange on unopened products.

Requesting Return Authorization

All  requests for R.A. (return authorization) must be initiated by the  customer by email, to comply with the timed rules of our policies. Once  you have made your selection, our system will notify us of your request  and you will be contacted within one business day with instructions.

Standard Return Policy

Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.  While we offer free shipping for most of our products, the original  shipping charges and handling fees, for the returned item(s), will be  deducted from the refund. In addition, there may be a restocking fee  which will be deducted from your refund should you wish to make a  return. If the item is refused and returned to Smart Intel any return  freight costs will also be deducted from the refund.

DOA or Damaged on Arrival. For  products that arrive damaged or out of error or cannot be fixed with  replacement parts, Smart Intel will pay for a replacement to be shipped  if the damage, shortage or mis-shipment is properly signed for. If  damage, shortage or loss is not signed for, the manufacturer may not be  able to ship replacements. Please consult our replacements policy for  further details. If the customer does not want parts or a replacement  unit, the product may be returned for credit as detailed above.
 

Standard Return Limitations.   On unopened products, return shipping will be deducted from the refund.  If a product is opened, a restocking fee may be deducted depending on  packaging damage and product wear. Any order that is refused or returned  because the customer does not like the product, no longer wants the  product, or believed the order was cancelled, is considered a buyer's  remorse return. Buyer's remorse is easily determined if a replacement of  the same working product will not resolve the issue. In the event that a  product's advertised product specifications* are unsatisfactory, such  as: colour or finish, build materials and/or durability, retail  packaging, loudness or audio clarity, screen brightness, contrast,  clarity and/or colour, wireless strength, dead pixels, software  usability issues and/or network connectivity issues, or physical  dimension, return shipping costs must be covered by the customer and a  restocking fee will be deducted on open products. As with all accepted  return authorizations, packaging and all materials and paperwork must be  included.
 

Cancelled Orders. All cancelled  orders will be confirmed by Smart Intel in writing: if you have not  received a confirmation, your order has not been cancelled. Orders that  have been shipped cannot be cancelled and costs for round-trip shipping  will be deducted from refunds if orders are refused. Orders that are  refused are still considered returns, and as such, the restocking fee  and shipping costs both ways will be incurred as detailed above.

All credits for returned items will be processed once the products are returned to the distribution center.

Limited Return Policy

Headphones  For health and safety reasons, no returns will be accepted on any  opened pairs of headphones or earbuds. Under extreme circumstances, any  returns for headphones and earbuds will be charged a mandatory 15%  restocking fee. Shipping charges will not be refunded.

Final Sale Items do not qualify for the Standard Return Policy. 

Items that are considered final sale cannot be returned if opened for health reasons:

Small appliances that have been used cannot be returned; however, manufacturer's warranty service still applies.
Electric  shavers, home spa products and dental product cannot be returned if  opened*; however, manufacturer's warranty service still applies.

Warranty  assistance is always provided on consumable items that are considered  final sale; however, they cannot be returned if opened or assembled:

AV furniture that has been assembled or removed from its original packaging.
Consumables  in the form of batteries, recordable CDs/DVDs, cassette tapes, TV  lamps/light bulbs or projector lamps/light bulbs cannot be returned.
Turntable accessories, needles and cartridges are considered to be consumables and cannot be returned.

Software usability and network connectivity

Trouble  with connecting products to home networks or internet networks,  subscription-based networks, WiFi hot-spots, spotify, Netflix, Hulu, and  similar types of networks are not covered by the standard return  policy. If you are having trouble with connectivity, please consult with  the manufacture and/or the network provider to resolve this issue.

Personal Information Collected by Smart Intel

Smart  Intel uses information that we collect from our visitors to personalize  and improve your visit at Smart Intel. We gather the following types of  information:

Information you give us

Smart  Intel collects any information which you enter on our Web site. This  information is normally provided when you search, buy, participate in a  contest, sweepstakes or on-line survey, or when you communicate with any  of our departments such as customer service, sales or technical  services through our Web site, telephone, mail or fax. You also provide  information when you establish an account with us. Examples of the type  of information you may supply us with include your name, address,  telephone number, credit card information, e-mail addresses, and  financial information such as your Social Security number.

Automatic Information collected by us

Whenever  you visit our Web site we collect and store information such as  "cookies" which remember information about a visitor from one page to  the next and from one visit to the next. We collect and analyze the IP  address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; password;  computer and connection information such as your browser type and  version; operating system and platform; purchase history; confirmation  when your open e-mail that we send you; the URLs which lead you to and  around our Web site including the date and time; the pages and or  products you viewed or searched for and the phone number used to call  our voice telephone numbers. Your browser allows you to reject cookies  and software is available from third parties which will allow you to  visit our Web site without providing this information. You are welcomed  at our Web site if you use this software but we will not be able to  offer you our personalized services.

Website Usage Data1

With  or without cookies, our website keeps track of usage data, such as the  source address that the page request is coming from (such as domain  name), date and time of the page request, the referring website (if any)  and other parameters in the URL (for example search criteria). We use  this data to give us a better understanding of how visitors use our  website. This information is stored and is used for aggregated and  statistical reporting.

Orders

If you  place an order we use a secure order form which requires you to provide  contact, billing, and financial information. This information is  transmitted to your credit card company to authorize your purchase. No  credit/debit card information will be stored by us1.

Law Enforcement and Protection of Users

We  will release personally identifiable information to third parties and  organizations when we believe it is appropriate for us to do so to  comply with the law. We will also do so to cooperate with law  enforcement investigations, comply with court orders or subpoenas,  protect the legal rights of us and our users, or when we believe it is  needed for fraud protection and/ or credit risk reduction.

Business Transfer

In  the unlikely event that Smart Intel is sold, has substantially all of  its assets acquired or merges or becomes affiliated with any other  individual or entity any customer information owned or under the control  of Smart Intel may be one of the transferred assets.

Security

Our  Web site protects the security of personal information you transmit to  us by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts the  information you input during the transmission to us. We do not reveal  your credit card number when we confirm your order. In order to protect  against unauthorized access to your account you should sign off when you  finish visiting our site.

Choice/Opt-Out

In  order to receive NEWSLETTER marketing material from us, you must first  give your email address to us in writing or on our website, or by  express verbal communication.  Secondly, an email will be dispatched to  verify your email address, which you must then click on to. Our Web site  gives you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving NEWSLETTER marketing  communications from us. Consistent with the Children's  Online Privacy Protection Act, we will not knowingly collect any  personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.  Smart Intel sells products intended for purchase by adults. If you make a  purchase on Smart Intel, you are representing that you are an adult. If  you are a child under the age of 13, you must ask your parent or  guardian to assist you in using Smart Intel

This  Privacy Notice and our Terms of Use will change over time and the use  of information which we gather now is subject to these Notices and Terms  as modified. Environmental Handling Fees

Why  am I charged an Environmental Handling Fee? Your purchase may include  an Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) or an Advanced Disposal Surcharge  (ADS). This fee is collected on behalf of provincial governments and  remitted under provincially approved recycling programs. For more  information on individual programs please visit your provincial  government’s website for the Ministry Responsible for Environmental  Affairs.

About Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES)

Ontario  Electronic Stewardship (OES) is a not-for-profit organization formed by  leading retail, information technology and consumer electronic  companies to implement the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment  (WEEE) Program Plan under the Waste Diversion Act. The plan requires  brand owners, first importers, franchisors, and assemblers to pay fees  for electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) supplied to Ontario.  Collected fees will be used by OES to operate the WEEE program.

The  OES is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors which consists of  Stewards from across the supply chain representing the full range of  obligated EEE. Only officers, directors, and/or employees of companies  that supply designated EEE for use in Ontario are eligible for  appointment to the Board. The Board is composed of 10 voting directors  and 2 observers (non-voting). The OES Governance Committee and Chair  review the board composition against marketplace supply chain structure  to ensure adequate steward representation for all affected obligated  products.

Your Details Are Secure!

No  credit card numbers are ever stored on our servers so there is no way  for your private financial information to be compromised. In addition,  our servers are 100% secured as they are tested three times daily for  security vulnerabilities. We have been selling online for six years and  have never had a security problem.

Credit Card Fraud Protection

While  we know that 99.99% of our sales are perfectly legitimate, we do filter  many of the credit card transactions through banking institutions  before completing the sale process for our protection. The following is  the most common list of criteria used by our accounts department to flag  suspect orders.

Unverifiable Billing address used in the order.

When the billing address does not match that of the Credit Card.
This also applies to PayPal non-verified addresses.

Unverifiable Shipping address used in the order.

Shipping address is irregular, a post box or a temporary location (e.g. a trade show)

Untraceable email address used in the order.

Often one of the free email services, like hotmail.com and yahoo.com, gmail.com which are relatively untraceable.

Overly Expensive items are ordered that make no sense.

Many  people order expensive items from Smart Intel, but there are some  things that cause us to flag an order. For example, its simply not cost  effective to order a 55-Inch plasma to be delivered to an American city.

Multiple items are ordered.

Especially where the items have a high resale value.

Express shipping is demanded.

Most fraudulent orders specify overnight or 1-day shipping without hesitation or prior correspondence.

Shipping address differs from billing address.

Receiving  point and billing address are different in most fraud orders so we  always need to make the connection with the Payee and preferably by  telephone.

Suspicious billing address is used in the order.

Rare, but the truth is we've had some pretty badly made up addresses.

Leave at door.

If  the courier service cannot guarantee delivery of goods, the risk of  fraud is very high so we require signed verification on all orders  unless specific arrangements have been made between us and the customer.

Geo-Location does not match the user's IP address or NO IP address.

If  the user's computer is not located in the same geographical location of  the credit card billing address. e.g. A credit card that is issued to  an address in Vancouver is entered from a computer that is located in  Miami. IP address is the digital signature of your computer. Your IP  address is The absence of an IP address indicates suspicious activity  items will not be shipped.
If  you suspect that your order may have been or will be flagged because of  one of the above reasons, please let us know. Most of the time,  communication breakdown is the biggest culprit.

Anti-Fraud Address Verification Policy & Procedure

We  understand this can be an inconvenience, currently this is our best  means of protecting you from a third party using your stolen credit card  information.

Please read carefully!!!

Your  order will require more processing time (5-7 days) and must go through  our Anti-Fraud Address Verification System if you are shipping to an  address other than you billing address or if the billing address  response from your credit card comes back as a "No Match" for what the  bank has on file for you.

Double check your billing address!

BILLING  INFORMATION We strongly recommend you enter your address as it appears  on your credit card statement. If you still are not sure of what your  billing address is, call your credit cards issuing bank with the number  provided on the back of your credit card. Now you are done.

SHIPPING TO AN ADDRESS OTHER THAN YOUR BILLING?

Here is what you must do.

Make  sure your Credit Card Issuer has your alternate "Ship To" address on  file. We strongly recommend you call your credit cards issuing bank  first to make sure you could add a secondary ship to address to your  account or make special notes on your account of an approved alternate  ship to address.

Standard Manufacturer Warranty

Most  manufacturer warranties last for one year, although some offer two  year, five year and even lifetime warranties. You can see the duration  of any product's manufacturer warranty on the product's information  page.

If you purchased a product from Smart Intel and are having  trouble finding the correct manufacturer contact information, we will be  happy to assist you. We can even dig up your old receipt! Most  manufacturers have local service centers in populated areas in Canada  and can usually be found on the manufacturer's website. Warranty  coverage begins following 14 days after receiving an item.

Audio Manufacturer Warranties

Many  speaker and audio companies offer lengthy limited and lifetime  warranties. Each company's policy differs, so we recommend that you  investigate these details with the manufacturers.
